Dr. Schmidt is presently the coordinator of child and adolescent psychology services at CRT, as well as the director for the predoctoral psychology training program. Dr. Schmidt is a clinical psychologist who provides psychological assessment and treatment for children, adolescents, and families. A graduate of the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, she has specific training and experience in the field of childhood trauma and maltreatment, including work with children who have extensive histories of abuse, neglect, and problematic sexual behaviors. Dr. Schmidt also has specific interest and experience in the area of prenatal substance exposure, and she enjoys speaking about this topic on both local and national levels. Dr. Schmidt was the Project Director for a federally funded project, intended to identify and improve the lives of adolescents in the child welfare system who were at risk for a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. She currently serves as the Illinois representative for the FASD Center for Excellence, funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Over the years, Dr. Schmidt has especially enjoyed her involvement with Camp SOAR, as both an advisor and senior staff member.
